Infinite Forests by Of The Oleanders. Photograph is of her on a backpacking trip.
” I come here because it’s where it is silent and I am alone. The wind is caught in a netting of green, green foliage before it can reach me. It is still here, and the sun just barely makes it through the green, green canopy above me. I am warm; alone and at peace.
The green is safe, and quiet, and calm. If I keep my eyes closed, I can still see it. I can go away from myself, see myself from the outside, and I look so small compared to the forest around me. I can walk away from myself, see myself getting smaller and smaller as the green, green forest envelopes me. No matter how far I walk, the greenness prevails, giant and silent in the infinite forests in my mind.”
